Insight Final Event
You are cordially invited to join the In-Sight team in an afternoon of reflecing on and thinking beyond the findings of our research project.
The In-Sight project started in 2021 with the mission of “Making the Hidden Visible: Co-designing for public values in standards-making and governance” and after a fruitful 5 years in the making, we would like to conclude the project by creating a space (for one last time) to think about what we mean by citizenship and standard-setting in digital networks.
Please sign up HERE if you would like to attend.
TIME: March 21st (Fri) 12:30 - 16:00 (lunch will be served at 12:00 and a borrel will follow after the concluding remarks)
LOCATION: The Humanities Lab (Bushuis F0.01, Kloveniersburgwal 48)
Workshop objectives:
- Assess the legacy and gaps: Reflect on the key contributions of the IN-SIGHT project from the media studies, computer science, legal studies and citizen science perspective, while critically examining the unresolved tensions in standard-setting—especially concerning power, societal impact, inclusion, and public values.
- Situate standards in a changing geopolitical landscape: Explore how shifting global power dynamics, regulatory competition, and emerging technologies challenge existing governance frameworks and reshape the role of citizenship in digital networks.
- Chart future research and action agendas: Identify pressing questions and strategic priorities for scholars, policymakers, lawmakers, regulators, and practitioners to ensure that standards-making become more responsive, democratic, and aligned with public interests.
